St. Louis, MO (KSDK) - A one alarm house fire early Wednesday has virtually destroyed a north St. Louis family's home.
Firefighters got a 911 call just before 2:00 a.m. today for the blaze inside a home in the 5300 block of Greer Avenue. Once they arrived, firefighters acted quickly to rescue one person from a second story window of the burning house.
Five other people living in the two story frame structure were able to escape prior to the arrival of firefighters, including one victim who jumped from a window of the building.
The person who jumped and the victim who was rescued were both transported to area hospitals for treatment of non life threatening injuries.
The home had a working smoke alarm according to fire investigators who said they had not yet pinpointed the cause of the fire.
Damage to the home was extensive and the American red Cross is assisting the victims of the blaze.
