ST. LOUIS, Mo. (KSDK) - Guests of the downtown Ramada Plaza Hotel were evacuated into the cold morning air early Wednesday after smoke filled a portion of a hotel hallway.

St. Louis Fire Captain Dan Sutter says the exact cause of the small fire remains under investigation, but early indications suggest a heating and ventilation system may have malfunctioned, emitting a slight haze of smoke around 1:00 a.m.

No injuries were reported.

The fire was believed to have been in a second story portion of the complex.

No actual flames were ever found, but the guests were evacuated while the entire system could be evaluated.
