MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Texas (KPRC/CNN) - A man accused of trying to use a stolen credit card is in police custody was shot at outside a Houston-area mall.

Detectives say a sheriff's deputy opened fire on 41-year-old Taud Damonn Washington in the parking lot of The Woodlands Mall after he tried to get away in his car.

Deputies had followed Washington outside the mall after he allegedly tried to use a stolen credit card at several stores and was denied at all of them.

Investigators used their cars to box Washington into a parking spot, but they say he backed into a mall security vehicle and then drove forward at a deputy before that deputy fired a shot into his windshield.

Washington then surrendered.

No one was injured.

He faces an aggravated assault charge and a possible credit card abuse charge.
