Des Moines, IA (Sports Network) - Nick Wiggins led five teammates in double- figures with 18 points as the Wichita State Shockers defeated the Drake Bulldogs, 75-63, in Missouri Valley Conference play at the Knapp Center.
Wiggins was 6-of-8 from the field, including 4-of-5 from beyond the arc, for the Shockers (13-1, 2-0 MVC), who have won four in a row. Malcolm Armstead (14 points, five rebounds), Cleanthony Early (11 points), Tekele Cotton (10 points, seven rebounds), and Ehimen Orukpe (10 points, six rebounds) rounded out a balanced effort for Wichita State.
Joey King scored 15 points for Drake (6-7, 0-2), which lost its second consecutive game. Micah Mason was the only other Bulldog to score in double- digits with 14 points.
Wichita State led 34-32 after one half due in large part to its six made 3- pointers. Drake kept the contest close by connecting on 50 percent of its field goal attempts in the opening 20 minutes.
The Shockers extended their lead after intermission by shooting 51.7 percent from the field. including 6-of-10 from beyond the arc.
The Bulldogs turned the ball over 19 times, which led to 29 points for the opportunistic Shockers.
