MADISON COUNTY, Ill.(KSDK) - A home exploded early Thursday morning in Worden, Illinois.

Fire officials saidthe house in the 7900 block of Possum Hill Road was vacant and under renovation at the time and no one was hurt.

Authorities say it doesn't appear any other nearby homes were damaged as a result of the explosion.

Joel Bradler, the next door neighbor and caretaker of the property, said he was awakened by the blast and that the force of the explosion knocked several of his pictures off the walls, and blew his cupboard and refrigerator doors open.

The home was vacant after its original owners passed away and was in the process of being cleaned up for leasing in February, Bradler said. The couple who owned the home also apparently owned several rental properties/homes in the area.

Investigators are still working to determine a cause.
