ST. LOUIS, Mo. (KSDK) - A woman found dead in an overnight fire in Dutchtown may have been murdered, according the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department.
Brinda Babcock, 49, was found dead in the front room of a home in the 4000 block of Giles Avenue just after 12:30 a.m.
Babcock was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police said Babcock's roommate came home from work and saw the smoke. The roommate could not get inside because the smoke was too thick. The roommate ran to a neighbor's to call 911.
According to David Marzullo, a police spokesman, Brinda Babcock died as a result of "cutting on her body," but did not go into greater detail.
