Clayton, MO (KSDK) - A fall trial date is tentatively scheduled for a man accused in the shooting death of a state fraud investigator, an incident which also resulted in the shooting death of the defendant's accomplice.

Billy Cushshon-Bey of Spanish Lake is charged with two counts of second degree murder. attempted robbery, and armed criminal action in connection to the June 2010 shooting deaths of 47 year old Tyrone Thompson, a criminal investigator with the Missouri Attorney Generals office who was shot to death after arriving at a home on Jerries Lane off Dunn Road in north St. Louis County to visit a friend.

Police say Cushshon-Bey and his partner, 18 year old Jakeem Hicks were planning to rob Thompson as he got out of his SUV, not aware the investigator was armed.

An exchange of gunfire resulted in all three of the men being shot. Hicks stumbled from the crime scene and collapsed. He was pronounced dead at the scene. Thompson was found near his vehicle where he was been shot. He was also dead at the crime scene.

Investigators later charged Cushshon-Bey after he contacted police to tell them he had been the victim of a shooting. Police say Cushshon-Bey's story began to unravel shortly after they questioned him.

Trial is scheduled for September 23, 2013.
