WASHINGTON (AP) - Abortion opponents from across the country are in the nation's capital for the 40th annual March for Life.
After rallying at noon Friday on the National Mall, participants who organizers predict will number in the hundreds of thousands will march to the Supreme Court to protest the 1973 Roe v. Wade decision.
The national director of Priests for Life, Father Frank Pavone, told a youth rally Thursday that "the days of legal abortion in America are numbered." Amid cheers, he declared, "This evil will end and we will see it end."
March for Life President Jeanne Monahan said the marchers will be mourning "the loss of 55 million Americans," an abortion total she noted is equivalent to about a sixth of today's U.S. population.
