Albany, NY (Sports Network) - Juan'ya Green finished one rebound shy of a triple-double as the Niagara Purple Eagles defeated the Siena Saints, 78-69, in a Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference bout at the Times Union Center.
Green finished with 19 points, 11 assists, and nine boards for Niagara (12-8, 8-1 MAAC), which extended its season-long winning streak to five games. Antoine Mason netted 17 points for the visitors, while Ameen Tanksley tallied 14 points and seven rebounds.
For Siena (4-16, 2-7), Evan Hymes matched a career-high with 30 points on 7- of-11 from the field and 12-of-13 from the foul line. Rob Poole scored 14 points, Trenity Burdine had 11 points, O.D. Anosike grabbed 10 boards, and Hymes dished out six assists for the Saints, who have lost three straight.
Both teams shot well in a back-and-forth first half, with Siena shooting 48 percent from the field and Niagara making 50 percent of its attempts. The Purple Eagles went into intermission with a slim 42-40 advantage.
The Purple Eagles led for virtually the entire second half, and even though Siena brought its deficit to one with just over two minutes to play, Niagara finished the game on an 8-0 run to seal its fate.
Niagara scored 20 points off of 12 Siena turnovers, while it coughed the ball up just three times itself.
