Youngstown, OH (Sports Network) - Keifer Sykes scored 24 points to help lead the Green Bay Phoenix to a 71-54 road victory over the Youngstown State Penguins in Horizon League action at the Beeghly Center.
Sykes shot 7-of-11 from the field and 8-of-9 from the foul line for Green Bay (15-12, 9-5 Horizon), which has won three straight games. Alec Brown netted 16 points and block four shots for the visitors, while Jordan Fouse tallied a double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds.
For YSU (15-12, 7-7), Bobby Hain recorded 14 points and eight rebounds, while Kendrick Perry had 13 points. Kamren Belin (12 points, three blocks) and Blake Allen (11 points, six rebounds) were also solid, but the Penguins didn't receive a single point from their bench on the afternoon.
Green Bay outshot YSU from the field in the first half, 53.8 percent to 34.5 percent, as it took a 33-25 advantage into intermission.
The Penguins brought their deficit to just one, 37-36, on a Brown dunk at the 14:56 mark of the second half, but they would never tie or take the lead down the stretch, as the Phoenix continued their hot shooting in the final 20 minutes (.500) to pull away.
Green Bay held a 39-24 advantage in the rebounding battle and outscored YSU at the foul line, 17-11.
