ST. CHARLES, Mo. (KSDK) - A diving coach at Lindenwood University is charged with trying to punch a St. Peters Police officer. He's also accused to trying to spit on officers.

It all started for Kyle Friesenhahn with a traffic stop. On February third a driver witnessed Friesenhahn driving the wrong direction on I-70 and immediately called 911.

Police found him travelling the westbound in the eastbound lanes near the Mid Rivers mall.

St. Peters police quickly caught up to him and pulled him over, that's when the officers realized that Friesenhahn might be intoxicated.

St. Peters police then took him back to the police station to do a field sobriety test and Friesenhahn starting acting like he was having a seizure.

Police called for an ambulance and it was determined that Friesenhahn was just fine.

Police say when they were booking him, he spit on officers and tried to punch one officer twice.

Friesenhahn now faces a misdemeanor assault charge and police say other charges are pending, including DUI and resisting arrest.

Our calls to Lindenwood University went unanswered.
We tried to get in contact with the school today..my calls were never returned.
