LOS ANGELES (KTLA/CNN) - Concert goers won't be able to get a burger when Morrissey performs at the Staples Center next month.

The popular Los Angeles venue will be meat-free for the show on March 1.

Morrissey, a long time animal activist and vegetarian, urged the venue to banish the sale of "flesh as food."

The request was approved even though a similar request by Paul McCartney was denied.

Morrissey says he sees this as not as a victory for him, but a victory for the animals.

A portion of the proceeds will go to PETA.
