Atlanta, GA (Sports Network) - James Michael McAdoo scored 22 points and pulled down 11 rebounds as the North Carolina Tar Heels posted a 70-58 win over the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets in ACC action at McCamish Pavilion.
Also scoring in double figures for the Tar Heels (18-8, 8-5 ACC) were Leslie McDonald and P.J. Hairston with 15 and 10 points, respectively, as the team won for the second time in as many games.
The Yellow Jackets (14-11, 4-9) were paced by Marcus Georges-Hunt and Chris Bolden who both tallied 12 points, followed by Kammeon Holsey with 10 points off the bench as the team bowed for the second time in three outings. Daniel Miller responded with a game-high 12 rebounds.
Georgia Tech opened the contest on an 8-3 run, but the squad shot only 2-of-7 beyond the arc and missed all six chances at the free-throw line over the first 20 minutes of action, resulting in a 36-30 lead for UNC at the break.
In the second half the Tar Heels shot only 37.9 percent from the floor, but that was still better than Georgia Tech which hit on just 9-of-26 (.346) as UNC pulled away for the victory.
The Yellow Jackets turned the ball over 19 times and were outscored at the free-throw line, 14-4.
