FENTON, Mo. (KSDK) - Firefighterslocated a male victim inside a home that burned early Tuesday morning in the 1400 block of Ridge Road in Fenton.

Firefighters got the first call for a fire around 4 a.m. and arrived to the location off New Sugar Creek Road and found the one story single family home engulfed in fire.

Neighbors told fire officials they heard an explosion and saw the house ablaze.

Firefighters quickly sounded a second alarm as the flames blazed through the roof of the structure. A search of the home uncovered the body just after 5:30 a.m. Tuesday.

Sheriff Oliver "Glenn" Boyer with the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office says the victim has been identified as 24-year-old Charles O'Dell of Fenton.

Boyer says O'Dell had been staying at the home by himself.

The cause of the fire is under investigation, but it appears to have originated in the bedroom.

O'Dell's friends say he graduated from Northwest High school. He was a manager at St. Louis Pizza and Wings in High Ridge and loved to play guitar. They held a vigil for him on Tuesday night.
