ST. LOUIS (KSDK) - The recent blast of winter weather has left many of us with a common seasonal problem: dry skin.

But there are a few simple steps you can take right now, to prevent your skin from falling victim to the cold weather.

Keep it cool in the shower. Hot water can dry out your skin, so keep the temperature lukewarm.

It's also a good idea to not use as much soap. Just wash your hands, feet, and other strategic areas. Then after the shower, apply lotion and your dry skin should improve.

Make sure you have a nice thick layer of lotion so the skin can absorb all that it needs. Don't forget your hands and feet when putting on lotion.

And, you may also want to invest in a humidifier.

Love your lips and don't let them get chapped. Drinking plenty of water on really cold days can help keep your lips in top condition.

And don't forget about the sun. Fair-skinned people can still burn in the winter and in cold weather.
