ST. LOUIS COUNTY (KSDK) - A local high school orchestra is headed to the Big Apple for a big competition.

The Kirkwood High School Symphonic Orchestra flew out of Lambert-St. Louis International Airport Thursday morning to compete for the National Orchestra Cup trophy in New York City.

Kirkwood is one of just seven orchestras from around the country competing.

NewsChannel 5 was live at the airport on Today in St. Louis to see the orchestra off.
