WINFIELD,Mo. (KSDK) - A multi-vehicle crash closed Highway 79 for nearly two hours Wednesday evening.

Volunteers with the Winfield Foley Fire Protection District responded to a chain reaction collision in the 1400 block of South Highway 79.

Additional help from Old Monroe Fire District, Lincoln County Ambulance District, Missouri State Highway Patrol, and local law enforcement coordinated at the scene to assist those injured and to clear the scene as quickly as possible.

The lengthy closure was due to the vehicles involved being stuck together as a result of the crash.

Three people were transported by ambulance to a local hospital.

The extent of their injuries is unknown at this time.
