ST. LOUIS (KSDK) - The World Health Organization says people under 18-years-old shouldn't use tanning beds, and many other medical organizations warn about the cancer risks associated with any kind of exposure to ultra-violet rays.
But it was a study done in part, here in St. Louis that really got our attention.
A survey of Missouri tanning salon operators shows 65 percent would allow children as young as 10 to 12-years-old to use tanning beds.
Dr. Lynn Cornelius, Chief of the Division of Dermatology at Washington University's School of Medicine, is the co-author of the study.
She joined First@4 to talk about the implications of the study.
