NORMANDY, Mo. (KSDK) - The Normandy School District Board of Education named Dr. Ty McNichols as its new superintendent of schools.
McNichols will assume the position July 1 for the departing Dr. Stanton Lawrence, who's stepping down June 30 to return to Texas. The announcement follows a six-month nationwide search.
Dr. Ty McNichols., 48, agreed to a three-year contract with the school district with an annual salary of $180,000.
At present, McNichols serves as assistant superintendent for learning in the Hazelwood School District. He previously held the title of assistant superintendent for accountability.
Prior to his central office positions for the district, McNichols worked as an elementary school principal in the Hazelwood and Kirkwood districts, and as a middle school assistant principal in the Clayton School District. He has teaching experience in the St. Louis and Pattonville districts and was at one time a program coordinator with the Mid-County YMCA in Brentwood.
McNichols earned his Bachelor of Science degree in elementary education from Central Missouri State University and his Master and Doctorate of education from the University of Missouri-St. Louis.
