EAST ST. LOUIS, Ill. (KSDK) - East St. Louis police officers and St. Clair County sheriff's deputies are being honored for solving a couple of big cases.

Most of the honorees helped capture the suspects in the armed robbery of an East St. Louis church in January. The department found the two suspects in less than 24 hours.

Others were honored for their work in finding the suspect in the rape and robbery a MetroLink rider.

"I want to build the morale back up here build the credibility up as much as I can and let these guys know that they are needed and they are important to the community on what they do so sometimes you have to go out there and let them know what we do," said Chief Michael Floore.

Those aren't the only awards going out right now. The chief is also starting to hand out employee of the month awards.
