ST. LOUIS (KSDK) - The election of a new pope is the talk of St. Louis Catholic schools, including Cardinal Ritter High School.

The students at Cardinal Ritter say they're excited about the new pope, and their building, completed in 2003, has a connection to another pope.

A school official says when Pope John Paul II visited St. Louis in 1999 he made special mention of a new building for Cardinal Ritter students.

Shortly afterwards, there was a ground breaking and the rest is history.

Students say they hope Pope Francis will come to see their new school.
