ST. LOUIS (KSDK) - St. Louis police are asking for help identifying a burglary suspect.

Police say on March 4 a 79-year-old woman living in the 5900 block of Childress answered a knock on her front door, and the suspect told her he needed to inspect her property line. He then forcibly entered her home, canvassed the house, and took the woman's purse before fleeing.

The suspect tried to use the victim's debit card at the QuikTrip at Chippewa and Gravois minutes after the burglary.

The suspect is described as a white male in his early 40s with medium-length black hair. He stands between 6' and 6'2" tall, and weighs 175-180 pounds. He has a medium build and facial stubble. He was seen in QuikTrip surveillance footage wearing a blue checkered flannel shirt.
