MIDDLETOWN, N.Y. (NEWS12/CNN) - Shoppers at a Walmart got something they didn't bargain for Thursday night.
A woman suddenly went into labor at the Wallkill, New York, store, and her baby was ready for the express lane.
"She's the Walmart baby," said Nathalie Saona.
Meet baby Kourtney and mom Nathalie, who jokingly called the cutie her "Walmart baby" at Orange Regional Medical Center in Middletown Friday.
That's because the pair have had quite an experience sinceTthursday night, when Nathalie gave birth to the healthy 6 pound, 6 ounce baby girl inside the Walmart on Route 211 in Wallkill.
The 28-year-old Middletown mom says she got to the super center just after 7 p.m. to shop for the baby, who wasn't due until Sunday, when she instead unexpectedly started feeling pain and felt like she had to push.
Shoppers and store employees rushed to help and actually delivered the baby on a bench in the pharmacy department before paramedics could get there.
Nathalie said it all happened in less than 20 minutes and describes the experience as surreal.
"I was getting my stuff. I was about to pay and then I started having worse pain and I felt like the baby was coming out. I was with my sister. I'm like 'I have to push, I have to push.' She said don't push. And then there was this guy, Richard, he was sent from God. And he helped me. I couldn't walk. They put me on the benches in the pharmacy so everything happened there. It was just so fast," said Nathalie.
Both mom and baby are doing well. They'll be going home Saturday.
