ST. LOUIS(KSDK) - A collision between two vehicles in south St. Louis late Thursday has sent a city policeman to the hospital with serious injuries.

Investigators say just after 11:00 p.m. Thursday, a St. Louis officer in his personal vehicle was en-route to work the overnight shift, when his car collided with a second vehicle on Hampton near Milentz.

The injured officer has reportedly been on the St. Louis police force since 1993. He was taken to Barnes Jewish Hospital for treatment. Police say he has a broken leg and a concussion.

Police say the other driver failed to yield to the oncoming police officers car while making a left turn. That unidentified 33 year old driver was cited by officers.

The unidentified police officer is reported to be in critical but stable condition this morning.
