ST. LOUIS (KSDK) - A pair of top soccer clubs in the English Premier League are traveling to St. Louis this May for an exhibition match at Busch Stadium.
Manchester City F.C. and Chelsea will face off Thursday, May 23, with a 7:30 p.m. kickoff time. This is the first non-baseball, professional sports event to take place at the new Busch Stadium.
Tickets go on sale April 2 at 10 a.m. atCardinals.com/soccer or the Busch Stadium Box Office. A special pre-sale event will be held April 1 for Cardinals season ticket holders. Reserved seats start at $30, with premium reserved seats beginning at $100 and all-inclusive seats at $140. There is a limit of 8 tickets per purchase.
St. Louis has an illustrious history with the "beautiful game," but major clubs have avoided the city on exhibition tours due to the lack of an appropriate venue.
Manchester City F.C., the current Premier League champions, was founded in 1880. The club has won 25 major trophies, including 5 FA Cups and 3 League Championship titles.
Chelsea F.C. was founded in 1905. The club has 4 League Championships to its name, as well as 7 FA Cup wins. They became the first London soccer club to win the UEFA Champions League in 2012.
