ST. LOUIS (KSDK) - The Girl Scouts of Eastern Missouri are kicking off acollection that they hope will be as successful this year as it was last year when it set a Guinness World Record.

The scouts will be delivering recycled bags to homes in their area April 12-14 for people to fill with personal care items as part of the April Showers collection. They also will be at area Walmarts handing out information to encourage people to purchase and donate items.

Residents have until April 20 to fill the bags.

If you don't receive a bag, but want to help, go to Schnuck's and Dierberg's stores during the week of the event to purchase pre-packaged bags.

People may also drop off items at any Dierberg's store April 20-May 4.

Last year, the scouts collectedmore than 1.4 million itemsfor April Showers. The donations are given to local food pantries, shelters and Operation Food Search for distribution to individuals and families.
