ST. LOUIS (KSDK) -The sellout crowd that will come to Busch Stadium for Cardinals Opening Day will have to makeits way around the Ballpark Village construction site.

The old pedestrian bridge over 8th Street is gone, so the St. Louis Streets Department has poured new sidewalks that will line both sides of the street.

There will also be newly striped crosswalks and extra police on hand Monday to keep the crowds moving.

"That pedestrian bridge was a leftover from the old stadium," said St. Louis Streets Director Todd Waelterman. "And it used to enter into the old stadium on the second floor. Well, the stadium is gone, it lost its benefit because once you got across it, you had to go down more steps. So it was very underutilized."

The area that could be squeezed a bit is Clark Street. The street runs along the north side of the stadium between Busch and Ballpark Village. That will be open to pedestrians, but squeezed back because of a chain link construction fence.
