WASHINGTON PARK, Ill.(KSDK) --Washington Park and Illinois State Policeare investigating a shooting involving an officer.
According to Washington Park Police ChiefDavid Clark, the incident happened around 5:30 Sunday morningat the37th Street and Bunkum Road intersection.
AWashington Parkpolice officermade a routine traffic stop.The suspect put the vehicle in drive and tried totake off. He then turned toward the officer and accelerated.Fearing for his safety, the Washington Park officer fired shots at the vehicle. No one was injured.
The driver of the vehicle was driving on a suspended license and had two warrants. Hewas reportedly taken into custody.
The Washington Parkpolice officer was not injured and Illinois State Police are investigating the incident.
