St. Louis (KSDK) - Photographs covered the walls at the Humane Society of Missouri Sunday, showing both the sad face of animal cruelty and the compassion of those who work to stop it.

Photographer Mike Bizelli has been documenting the work of the Humane Society of Missouri's animal cruelty task force for the last fifteen years leading to the photo tribute.

While the photographs were the main focus, Trooper, the rescued dog, may have stolen the show.

Trooper is the puppy that was dragged behind a vehicle in November of last year.

He suffered serious injuries, but managed to almost fully recover and is now living with a foster family until a permanent home is found.
