ST. LOUIS(KSDK) - A series of small explosions and a subsequent fire caused a temporary power outage overnight in an area of downtown near Lacledes Landing.

Around 12:45 a.m. Monday, the first blast under a manhole cover at Broadway and O'Fallon sparked the fire which knocked out electricity to the area around the Lumiere Casino complex on the Landing.

Several street and traffic lights were also darked by the blast and fire.

Investigators say no injuries were reported and their was no property damage to anything other than the underground area where the fire was confined.

Officials believe the fire 'self extinguished', but did make for quite a show.

Ameren repair crews responded quickly and had power restored in short order. They blame a cable failure in a nearby manhole as the cause of the incident.
