ALHAMBRA, Ill. (KSDK) - A lockdown at Alhambra Elementary School in the Highland School District has been lifted.

The school was put on lockdown after National Bank, located in the 500 block of East Main Street was robbed at 1:43 p.m.

The Madison County Sheriff's Office says a man walked in the front door of the bank with a handgun, demanding cash from an employee.

The employee gave the suspect an undisclosed amount of money, and he left the area on foot. There is not vehicle description.

No one was injured.

A K-9 from the City of Collinsville responded to the scene, and the FBI has been notified.

An automated message from Superintendent Mike Sutton was sent out to parents notifying them of the lockdown.

The robbery suspect has not been apprehended. He was last seen wearing a gray hoodie, white hat, and dark pants.
