ALTON, Ill. (KSDK) - The Illinois Department of Transportation will close one lane of Illinois 100 in each direction in Alton between US 67 and Williams Street because of flooding.

The National Weather Service River Forecast indicates additional closures may be required. The Illinois 100 closures in Jersey County may be extended towards Alton due to the rising water. Occasional lane closures should be expected, but IDOT hopes to keep one lane in each direction open.

In addition, the Brussels Ferry, IL 100 through Grafton between IL 16 and IL 3, Kaskaskia Street in Chester, the IL 3 By-Pass in Randolph County, IL 3 at Rockwood in Randolph County, IL 3 south of Mary's River in Randolph County, IL 100 between Kampsville and Pearl in Pike County, and IL 3 in Grafton in Jersey County, plus IL 96 at Mozier, IL, Route 96/100 in Kampsville and IL 100 through Hardin - all in Calhoun County remain closed. Detours have been implemented to circumvent each closure.

Updates about road closures will be posted on IDOT's website. Detailed information on the Metro East closures is also available on the STL Traffic website.
