ST. LOUIS (KSDK) - It was the perfect way to build up the first game between the St. Louis Blues and the LA Kings. A pep rally started at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday and it was full of team pride.

The Stanley Cup playoffs are back in St. Louis and to pump up the first game, a pep rally outside the Scottrade Center with music, dancing and drinks.

"This is what it's all about, this is blue nation," said Earnie Young. "You've got Cardinal Nation, this is blue nation."

In blue nation there are beards, draw-on beards, blue beards and beards that have been around awhile.

"Got have the playoff beard, got to get it rolling," said Ryan Duenwald.

"My wife doesn't like it very much, but oh well," said Mike Smelik.

He admits he may have cheated just a little with his facial hair, but no more trimming, not until the Blues have that prized cup in hand.

"This comes out every year, this is the true color," said Young, who explained that gathering like is the perfect way to build fan momentum going into the playoffs.

He just wants one thing, a new piece of hardware.

"If we could just get one Stanley Cup in my lifetime that means everything," said Young.

The Blues will be back on the ice Thursday at 8:30 p.m. at the Scottrade Center. Plenty of tickets remain for that game.
