ST. LOUIS (KSDK) - This summer the Fox Theatre auditorium ceiling will be refurbished to its original 1929 dazzling stature. This is the most massive project since the original restoration that happened in 1981.

During the first restoration in 1981, the ceiling was vacuumed using suspended spider scaffolding. This renovation will include a lot of deep cleaning, which means the theatre will be scaffolded from floor to ceiling to allow for touch up painting and fabric repair. A total of 13 trailers of scaffolding will be used during the renovation.

The theatre will be closed to performances following "Anything Goes" which ends on June 9. The Fox will reopen in early September just in time to kick off the theatre's 31st Broadway season. An unveiling is also planned for September.
