ST. LOUIS (KSDK) - The public got their first chance Wednesday night to check out the plans to expand the Saint Louis Zoo across Interstate 64.

The zoo purchased the old 13 acre Forest Park Hospital site in fall 2012.

As wefirst reported Tuesday at 10 p.m., the new plans include parking, animal habitats and ways to blend the Zoo into surrounding neighborhoods.

The Zoo also wants to connect the two sites with a bridge, train, or Gondola over I-64.

Demolition work is expected to begin by the end of summer.
