ST. LOUIS COUNTY (KSDK) - A north St. Louis county family knows all too well what it feels like to wait for a child to come home.

Phoenix Coldonhas been missing since December 2011. It's been 508 days since she went missing from her home, but everyday her parents and investigators involved think about the missing girl.

For people like Lawrence and Goldia Coldon, the images are inspiring and they are ready for their turn.

"I have a change of clothes, shoes, underwear in the car just hoping that somebody will call us and tell us where Phoenix is," said Goldia Coldon.

Their daughter was 23-years-old when she went missing, but they believe Phoenix is alive and waiting to be found.

St. Louis County police Sgt. Gary Goro says Phoenix left her parents home around 3 p.m. December 18, and at 5:20 p.m. that same day, East St. Louis police found her SUV.

Sgt. Goro says what's happening in Ohio even affects him and his team.

"It's like hope, it gives you hope that something will happen, someone will come forward or someone will see something and we will end up finding them," says Goro.

He says what's happening in Cleveland will only be good for the Coldon case and the public opening their eyes.

"They see things that they wouldn't normally see for awhile, they pay more attention to what's going on around them," said Goro.

For Goldia it's not hope. "It's belief, belief that my daughter is alive, I believe that my daughter is alive," she said.

For the past year this mom has had dreams, dreams that her daughter shows up at the door and most recently dreams of two people, two men holding her daughter in captivity.

"If they are telling her that your mom is not going to find you or they have just given up and I hope she knows that in her head and heart that that is not true," she said.

Her parents and police hope that what happened this week in Ohio ignites the case on missing Phoenix.
