CAHOKIA, Ill. (KSDK)- Police say they are investigating a teacher's aide at aCahokia high school.
Cahokia police say they are investigatingallegations he had inappropriate contact with a student at Cahokia Senior High School.
Right now, police aren't saying what the accusations are and if the incident happened on or off school property. All they are saying is that they are investigating inappropriate contact between a teacher's aide who also works in the athletic department and a male student.
Police say they are only investigating an incident involving one student right now but are not ruling out the possibility that there could be other victims.
The superintendent, Art Ryan, says the school started investigating this teacher after he got a call from a parent saying she was concerned over inappropriate exchanges between this teacher's aide and her son on Facebook.
Police got involved a few days ago and questioned the teacher's aide onWednesday. That teacher is now suspended pending the outcome of the investigation.
He worked for the Cahokia school district for aboutsix years. He joined the high school at the start of the school year, but has worked for several other schools in the district including Maplewood Elementary.
Ryan says every school employee goes through a criminal background check.
No charges have been filed yet. Police say they will be presenting their case to the St. Clair County Prosecuting Attorney on Friday.
