PERCY, Ill. (KSDK) - The Randolph County Sheriff's Office charged a man Friday afternoon in connection with the deaths of four children following a house fire in Percy, Ill.
Derrick Twardoski was charged with four counts of first-degree murder. He remains in the Randolph County Jail without bond.
The fire happened in the 800 block of West Almond Street around 2 a.m.
Five-year-olds Brandon and Landan, 12-year-old Ethan and 9-year-old Kaliey,died in the fire. Their father, Matt Owen, mother and a family cousin made it out of the house alive.
Police have not given a motive for the fire.
Percy Mayor Mark Prange and Assembly of God Pastor Steve Duncan set up a fund to help the Owen family. The fund is at First National bank of Steeleville where donations can be made in care of the Owen Family Benefit Fund.
Percy, Illinois is located in Randolph County, about 70 miles southeast of St. Louis.
