ST. LOUIS (KSDK) - A road rage incident turned deadly Thursday evening.

Schron Y. Jackson, public information manager for the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department, says the incident started shortly before 12 p.m. on Interstate 70.

Two vehicles, a Lincoln Navigator and a box-style company truck , were traveling westbound when the company truck cut off the Navigator.

The Navigator followed the truck down the highway, and continued the pursuit as it exited the highway at Union.

Jackson says the two vehicles collided several times while driving southbound on Union.

The company box-style truck was stopped at the stoplight at Margaretta and Union when the Navigator pulled up from behind. The 43-year-old driver of the Navigator exited his vehicle and started hitting the truck with a hammer.

The driver of the Navigator then jumped on the box-style truck. The truck then turned left onto Margaretta, where the driver of the Navigator fell to the ground.

The man was transported to an area hospital in critical condition. He died later Thursday evening.
