ST. LOUIS COUNTY (KSDK) - A lemonade stand has raised more than $14,000 for the family of a boy hit and killed by a car.

Lemonade for Lonnieis raising money for Lonnie Avent's burial costs. Lonnie washit and killed by a car last week in north St. Louis.

Nine-year-old Lonnie's classmates at Sappington Elementary School wanted to do their part to help out his family, so they decided to set up a lemonade stand on the school's parking lot.

The lemonade stand opened at 10 a.m. Friday at the school, located at 11011 Gravois Road, Sappington, Mo.

If you cannot make it to the school but wish to contribute, you can write a check made payable to "Lindbergh Schools" and write "Lonnie Avent" on the memo line.
