St. Charles, MO (KSDK) - A north St. Louis County man accused of burglarizing churches in St. Charles County was convicted on some of the charges, acquitted on others, and a mistrial declared in one of the crimes.

51 year old Demetrius Brown of the Village of Riverview was found guilty on charges related to the theft of cash and a computer that was taken nearly two years ago from St. Peter's Catholic church in St. Charles.

A school official reported seeing a man breaking into a box containing offerings near the church sanctuary in June 2011. Police eventually caught up to Brown then arrested him for the crime.

Several other church break-in's were also investigated by police and charges were later issued against Brown.

In all, Brown was found guilty of two counts each of burglary and stealing. He was found not guilty on two other stealing counts, and a mistrial was declared on a charge of felony stealing.

Brown will be sentenced in July.
