GODFREY, Ill. (KSDK) - Usually, you just have to worry about dog bites at the park. But a little boy needed to go to the hospital Sunday after he was bitten by a monkey at Glazebrook Community Park in Godfrey, Ill.

The Madison County Sheriff's Department says the monkey's owner brought Nina, a Java macaque monkey and her dog to the annual "Bark in the Park" event. Her owner says both animals were on leashes.

Apparently, the monkey is possessive of the dog and bit a 6-year-old when he tried to pet the dog.

The monkey's owner hasn't been ticketed or charged yet, but the county's animal control agency is investigating.
