(KSDK Sports) -- Saint Louis junior forward Robert Kristo, junior defender Anthony Manning and senior midfielder Alex Sweetin were honored recently by Top Drawer Soccer as some of the best players in the nation at their positions.

According to the University website, Kristo, a Hermann Trophy semifinalist and National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) third-team All-American last year, was tabbed one of the top 10 forwards in the country heading into this season. He had a breakout season in 2012, scoring 11 goals and adding five assists to lead the Billikens with 27 points.

Manning, who earned second-team All-Conference honors after appearing in all 21 games last season on the Billikens' back line, was named a top 10 defender. He played every minute of the Billikens' nine Atlantic 10 Conference matches. SLU tied for first in the A-10 with nine shutouts and finished second in fewest goals allowed (0.86 per game).

Sweetin was listed as "others considered" for one of the top 10 midfielders in the nation. A second-team All-Conference pick a season ago, he tied for third on the team with 17 points (6G, 5A). Sweetin scored game-winning goals against Evansville and Saint Joseph's.

Saint Louis won 16 games a year ago, the most since the 2001 squad won 18 games. The Billikens captured the A-10 Championship and returned to the NCAA Tournament, their record 47th appearance in the tourney.

The schedule for the 2013 season, which begins in late August, will be released in the coming days.
