ST. LOUIS (KSDK) - Just next week we'll see fireworks all over the bi-state to celebrate the 4th of July. A lot of people love them, but a lot of pets don't.

The Humane Society says it's the number one day of the year for runaway pets, but the chances of seeing your dog or cat again go up dramatically if they're been microchipped.

If cost has kept you from doing it, we've done all the home work for you.

Nancy Hunt is with the Crestwood Animal Shelter. She joined First @ 4 on Tuesday with a dog named Stuart to talk about a $20 microchipping event this Saturday.

The event will be Saturday, June 29 from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. at Love Unleashed, 9221 Watson Industrial Park, Crestwood, Mo. 63126. Proceeds will benefit the Crestwood Animal Shelter.
