ST. LOUIS (KSDK) - A fire broke out Tuesday afternoonat an underground electrical vault in downtown St. Louis.

Firefighters were called to the U.S. Bank building atOne U.S. Bank Plaza just before 5 p.m. The 36 story building is on 7th Street, between Locust Street and Washington Avenue.

The fire department brought in a foam truck and used foam to help smother the fire.

Capt. Dan Sutter with the St. Louis Fire Department says there were a number of explosions, but no one was injured.

He said they were afraid people had become trapped in elevators after power was cut to the building, but the all-clear has been given, and no one is trapped.

Crews with Ameren Missouri restored power around 6 a.m. Wednesday.
