ST. LOUIS (KSDK) - A vehicle fleeing police crashedThursday afternoon just off of South Broadway.

Police say a silver Altima crashed shortly after 3 p.m.at Broadway and Marceau.

A St. Louis County police officer was parked near the city/county line at Broadway and River City Casino Boulevard when he noticed a vehicle speeding northbound on Broadway.

The officer followed the Altima, and tried to pull it over. The suspect sped up and refused to pull over.

When the suspect refused to pull over, the officer stopped following, but watched the suspect speed down Broadway, driving through a traffic signal at the intersection of Broadway and Marceau, where hit two parked vehicles.

Three people were transported to area hospitals, including a 3-year-old child.

The child was inside the suspect's vehicle, and was not wearing a seat belt or in a car seat, and was ejected from the vehicle. The child is listed in critical and unstable condition with a head injury.

The suspect was taken into custody at the scene without incident.
