CHICAGO (AP) - The city of Chicago is poised to celebrate their Stanley Cup-winning Blackhawks with a downtown rally and parade.
Blackhawks players will ride double-decker buses in a parade that starts Friday morning. The parade will make its way to Grant Park where a rally is planned.
More than 2 million fans packed downtown Chicago in 2010 for a victory rally after the Blackhawks won the Stanley Cup. City officials say the field in Grant Park will hold between 75,000 and 100,000 people. They say large television screens will be erected for fans outside the park.
Chicago police are promising tight security this year. They're asking fans not to bring backpacks, large bags or coolers. City officials also are asking fans to take public transportation.
