(KSDK) -- Firefighters were called out to a structure fire in Washington Park, Ill., Friday morning.

Emergency dispatch told Newschannel 5 the house was fully involved. There were no reports of injuries. Neighboring firing agencies also responded to the fire.

The fire was sparked just days after Washington Park officials voted to layoff 7 of the village's 8 firefighters. Only an interim chief was retained on payroll.

Several laid-off firefighters said they would be working on a volunteer basis through the 4th of July holiday because of the high risk of fires.
