ST. LOUIS (KSDK) - If you need to fill up your car, you may be in for an unpleasant surprise. Gas prices are climbing.

Right now, the national average is $3.52 a gallon, which is up five cents from a week ago.

During the past week, prices have climbed eight cents in the Metro East, and in St. Louis, the cost for a gallon of gas has increased by a whopping 15 cents from just a week ago.

Experts say one big reason is the uprising in Egypt. When there's unrest in the Middle East, traders pay more for oil.

So where might prices go from here? Lewis Bettman, associate vice president of Raymond James and Associates joined NewsChannel 5 at 5 p.m. to talk about how high gas prices may go.
