ST. CHARLES COUNTY (KSDK) - St. Charles County Health officials are taking another shot at stopping an outbreak of whopping cough.

The highly contagious and potentially deadly respiratory disease has reached levels not seen since the mid-1950s.

Local health departments are trying to stop the spread with free vaccines. The St. Charles County Health Department will give 600 free vaccinations Thursday, July 25 from 8:30 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. and from 1:30 p.m. until 4:30 p.m. at the Health Department on Boone's Lick Road.

No appointment is needed.
